The biggest news coming out of American Horror Story in the past 48 hours has been the Roanoke cast’s appearance at PaleyFest. Controversy has surrounded Cuba Gooding Jr. for lifting up Sarah Paulson’s skirt to check out her legs. It was evident that some people, including Kathy Bates were pretty disgusted with the move. Fans in the audience had mixed reactions but as I said yesterday, Paulson and Gooding Jr. are pretty close friends and she didn’t seem to mind at all.
While we didn’t get too many plot details about season 7 of American Horror Story, fans were treated to some insights and feelings from Sarah Paulson. For one thing she admitted that she wanted to play Donald Trump in the next election themed AHS. And she also revealed that she wanted to reprise her “Coven” character.
As more news comes out about season 7 we’ll obviously keep you in the loop but so far no new plot details have emerged today. What I did find however, is a link to the original pilot script. It’s a 60 page document that’ll really take you back. There are some huge differences that you should be made aware of.

- Takes place in San Francisco instead of Los Angeles
- In the 1978 flashback featuring a young Addie and the red-head twins, the twins are more mean-spirited. They push Addie to the ground and spit on her when she tells them “You’re going to die in there.”
- When Vivien catches Ben having sex with Hayden, Ben emerges out of the bedroom entirely naked. He is stabbed, and shortly after he wraps his arms around Vivien muttering “I’m sorry” multiple times. This lasts for a short while before Vivien runs off.
- Violet is a stereotypical goth, and on the drive to San Francisco remarks on the many suicides that occur on the Golden Gate Bridge
- The San Francisco murder house is much older than the Los Angeles one. In the final pilot, the LA house was built in the 1920’s. The San Francisco house is at least two decades older, since Marcy says it’s lucky to have withstood the 1906 earthquake.
- The basement is sealed shut by padlocks. Violet later breaks them, but is disappointed when she finds no dead bodies down there.
- Tate’s therapy session, which consisted of him explaining his fantasies of shooting up a school, has much more gruesome content. When his fantasy is portrayed on screen, it’s similar to the official pilot, with him walking down the hallway wearing skull make-up. It all goes downhill from there, though. In the final pilot, the daydream stops when Tate walks in to a classroom and a teacher asks “Can I help you?” In the prototype pilot the scene continues from there. He kills the teacher. The scene cuts to him and Ben for a short while talking, then back to the classroom. He has murdered the whole class. Only one survivor, a girl, begs Tate for her life, but her efforts are fruitless as Tate shoots her.
- When Tate is escaping from the school in his daydream, he turns around to face the staircase. Obscene amounts of blood rush down the stairs, and he raises his arms, welcoming it, letting it flow over him. This connects with what he told Ben: “There’s something about the blood, man. All that blood. I want to drown in it.” This scene was included in a behind the scenes video, in which the crew reveals the deleted scene was meant to be an homage to the bloody elevator scene in The Shining.
- We learn (probably false) backstory from Moira. Moira reveals she has a husband who has been ill for a long time, and took the job many years ago so she’d be the breadwinner. Maybe in the Halloween episodes she would visit her dying husband instead of her dying mother? Or maybe Moira was making up a false backstory, since she was rather young when she was murdered.
- A rather gross scene takes place between Moira and Vivien. In the final version of the pilot, the old Moira and young Moira wore different uniforms, with the young Moira’s being more sexual. However, in the prototype pilot, young AND old Moira wear the sexual uniform. Thus, while Moira is scrubbing the floor, her old lady ass is hanging out for Vivien to see. From the script, “The spider veins are showing through Moira’s panty hoes. Vivien tries not to look.” Yuck.
- After Violet sees Moira coming on to Ben, Ben and Violet have a heat of the moment talk. Ben explains what happened, and Violet believes him, becoming untrusting of Moira as well.
- We get more exposition to the fight between Violet and Leah at school. Leah picks on Violet, but Violet fires back by asking Leah if she’s so awful because her family is awful. The fight seen in the final pilot ensues.
- After Ben and Vivien have intercourse while peeling the mural wallpaper, some exposition is given about Vivien always wanting a house, and how she may start playing her cello again. She also takes Ben’s word, believing the house is a second chance.
- Violet and Tate scared Leah so much she’s been out of school for several days. Leah’s so-called friends are happy she’s gone, since she was always rude to them. Leah’s ex-friends start to bond with Violet
- Violet figures out Tate is a ghost in the pilot, compared to halfway through the season.
